First of all, some jargon to understand:

CCTV - This stands for Closed Circuit Television (also known as video surveillance)

Smart CCTV Cameras - Smart CCTV security cameras allow you to remotely operate them from a device such as your smartphone via an app. Because it's a smart device you can integrate it with other smart technology such as alarms and sensors. If the smart camera is wireless, you will have much more freedom as to where you can place the camera.

PTZ Cameras - Pan/Tilt/Zoom. This camera is capable of changing direction and zoom via remote control. The cameras ability to move can reduce the number of cameras a system needs. You can also tilt or pan to follow the movements of a specific target should they move out of the field of view.

DVR (Digital Video Recorder) - This is the box the cameras attach to and contains a hard disk drive to record the footage. If you have a High Definition (HD) CCTV camera you will need a DVR that is capable of recording footage in HD.

Is CCTV Expensive?

This is a great question. Yes and no. It can be, but doesn't have to be. Our top systems can cost thousands of pounds, which businesses with warehouses full of expensive inventory will require, either for their peace of mind, or for insurance purposes. Domestic CCTV Systems can be bought for as little as £100. The main price factors are:

Does it take long to install?

Most domestic installs are completed in a day. However, this depends on the system that's been purchased: How many cameras there are, wired or wireless cameras, distance from camera to DVR and access.

Having spent lockdown with a broken window lock and faulty back door handle we decided they must be repaired before the winter.
